Sabres Making Strong Last Ditch Effort for Playoff Spot– Oilers Too!
The Buffalo Sabres won yesterday by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3. With their third win in as many games the Sabres are desperately clinging on to hope for making the playoffs. Being just 5 points behind the Montreal Canandiens makes tonight’s game versus the Canadiens that much more vital. With a win Buffalo would inch closer to their goal, but if they lose tonight Montreal will have sealed the Sabres fate and effectively all but eliminate them from the playoff chase.
In the western conference last night the Edmonton Oilers beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 in Anaheim. This was a big road win for the Oilers. With the win the Oilers thrusted themselves back into the number 7 spot in the standings, but more important back into the playoff spot.
The Vancouver Canucks led by the Sedin twins, are on a roll going 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. The Canucks are making a push to catch both the Chicago Black Hawks and the Calgary Flames for home ice advantage in the first round. The two brothers each scored a goal and teamed up to assist on another. The Canucks are clicking at the right time. The twins, Daniel and Henrik are seekings new contracts in the off season seem to be making a good case for themselves. The Sedins lead the Canucks in goals, assists and points.
