The NHL Playoffs Are Here: 16 Teams Will Fight It Out For the Stanley Cup

Well the regular season is finally over, now we can concentrate on one of the best times of the year, the Playoffs.  Thirty  teams fought hard through an 82 game schedule, sixteen teams have earned a spot to play for the most hollowed trophy in all of sports.

Last night’s games finished off the seeding process in the western conference.  With their 1-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche,  the St.Louis Blues vaulted over the Anaheim Ducks and the Columbus Blue Jackets for the number 6 seed.  Blues sniper Brad Boyes scored his 33rd goal of the season early in the first period, the goal held up giving the Blues the hard fought victory.

Over in the Eastern conference only two games were played.  The Boston Bruins beat the lowly New York Islanders 6-2, while the other game saw the New York Rangers score two 3rd period goals to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3.

Over the next two days I’ll break down all the teams in their first round match-ups and give you an idea who has the true inside track to winning the Stanley cup.
